Growing up locally and being
around boats I developed a
passion for boating and cooking at
a young age. I belonged to the
Downey Fly Fishers and was an
exhibitor at the Fred Hall’s Fishing
Show in Long Beach, CA. I began
selling flies and building custom
fishing poles in middle school. I
continued this business until I
graduated high school and went to
Alaska to work as a a guide at a
salmon fishing camp (for the
summer). A twist of fate there
changed my career path, when the camp cook took ill, someone
asked me if I knew how to
cook and I said, “I’ll try”. During those
weeks I realized what I wanted to do, feed people!
After returning home I quickly signed up for culinary school.
My mom likes to say that I
picked it by the price, because it was the most expensive
one I could find. I attended
California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, Ca. During
this time I also acquired my
Captain’s License and, FCC Radio License. After graduating
I began working as a cook at the
Park Hyatt Los Angeles, while balancing a part time career
as a captain. After learning all I
could at Park Hyatt I left to be able to do more work as
a captain and do catering part time.
I also earned a California Realtor License and a CA Notary
Public License. |
